Baby’s First Pepper Flakes are made from Satan’s Kiss (the same pepper used in Baby’s First Hot Sauce), Hungarian Wax, Anaheim, and Poblano Peppers by smoking and drying the peppers over oak wood chunks until they are ready to be crushed. These are perfect pizza – they bring heat, smokey flavor, and a touch of sweetness. Like the namesake sauce, these flakes bring 50,000 Scoville units directly to your baby’s delicate and developing digestive system. Also safe for adults.
Heat Level: Medium
Drying Type: Smoker (Weber Kettle Grill using offset charcoal and oak hardwood chunks)
Pepper Base: Satan’s Kiss

Preparing the Flakes
The flakes were dried on a low temperature in my Weber grill using offset coals and oak hardwood chunks. Satan’s Kiss peppers have a thick skin so it took two eight hour sessions to get them fully dried and ready to crush. I broke them down using a makeshift mortar and pestle (a big bowl and a little bowl) until they were ready to bottle up.
Only 10 jars were made! Very limited edition and exclusive!
Original Artwork
The original artwork for this was an adorable baby pepper character drawn in Infinite Painter by my oldest daughter. She also created the textured background color used on the label.
