Vampire Ash

Vampire Ash are smoked pepper flakes that add a delicious smoky flavor and spice to anything you put them on. These flakes are made from dried and smoked Vampire peppers. I grew a ton of these peppers but didn’t really like the flavor in any sauces I tried it in. Thankfully they came out deliciously as flakes!

Preparing the Flakes

These flakes were prepared by removing the stems from all of the vampire peppers, and then smoking them on my Weber Kettle grill over indirect heat with apple wood. This gave them a very nice smoky flavor while retaining their moderate spice. When the peppers were fully dehydrated, I crushed them in a plastic bag.

The original artwork for this label by my youngest daughter. These are drawings of the characters from the file Vivo. The first drawing is Gabi an the second is the kinkajou Vivo. The final two drawings are Chase from the Paw Patrol and a fox both drawn as vampires. The vampire drawings inspired the name of this sauce – the flakes are like the remains of a vampire after it is caught in the sunlight.

Alternative Label

An alternate version of the label before I realized it wouldn’t fit on the spice jars I bought.
